She is a wonderful doctor. Takes her time, explains things and understands the emotional stress this kind of procedure can have on a parent."
The development of dental implants has improved our ability to restore optimal form and function in a variety of situations when natural structure has been compromised. Dr. Jeanne-Anne Krizman has received advanced implant training from institutions such as Loma Linda University, which makes her a wonderful resource for patients who may need bone grafting. She was also awarded for her success with implants while in dental school at The Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. If you have lost one or more teeth, we invite you to learn more about your options for biocompatible restoration.
What are dental implants?
A dental implant is a root replacement; typically 3-4 months after your bone has healed from an extraction, the implant is inserted into the jawbone where the root used to be. The placement of one or more implants is very straightforward. Comfort is maintained with methods such as essential oils and acupuncture in addition to local anesthetic. IV sedation is offered on patient request. After the appropriate number of implants have been placed and covered by gum tissue, the body will naturally respond by generating the growth of new bone tissue around the implant. Because Dr. Krizman uses biocompatible materials, implants are expected to integrate fully into the bone. Patients are given the option of either Zirconia or Titanium Implants.
After 3-4 month of healing, and allowing the bone to grow around the implant, a crown can be attached to the implant.
Stabilized posts will be uncovered a few months after the initial procedure so an abutment (connector) may be attached to the implant. Finally, the implants will be completed with the appropriate restoration.
Titanium and Zirconia Implants may be used with dental crowns for individual tooth replacement. They may also be ideal to stabilize a bridge or full denture. Each situation is approached with the goal of comfort, function, and longevity in mind.
Z-Systems implants
The most common material implants are made of is titanium. Many people are able to tolerate this metal without incident. To accurately assess each patient's needs, Dr. Krizman performs biocompatibility testing before performing implant surgery. In some instances, a metal-free alternative is the most holistic approach. Z-systems implants are a wonderful option.
Z-3 implants are free of metal. Zirconia rates high for biocompatibility. This means they are unlikely to irritate oral tissues. Because zirconia implants are white, they are discreet beneath the gums. Their anti-corrosive nature enables them to resist the formation of plaque to integrate well within the jawbone.
Replacing a lost tooth or teeth with dental implant treatment means your oral structure is recreated the way nature intended. The longevity of titanium or zirconia implants alone is a good reason to consider this level of care.
